Holy Hell that was awesome! Non-stop action! Ash and her men faced every problem you could think of! The story was off the charts amazing and I loved each of the characters and their individuality! Finn is her big strong protector, Darrow is her cinnamon roll and Rowan, well I’m not completely sure about him yet. And Nikolai, I am VERY interested to see where that goes! And I totally did not see that twist coming at the end. This story was epic and I am running to get book 2 right now!!!

Absolutely fantastic!

Note: this is the first book and it ends on a cliffhanger and check the trigger warnings

I couldn't put this book down! (I started at about 10 pm and went to sleep at 5 am)

I was totally sucked in and am so anxious to carry on the next installment!

This book is so creative and intricate, but not confusing so that you feel lost. The story is fantastic and the characters have so much chemistry!

This story is superb in its writing and full of action, suspense, secrets, heartache, heat, healing and magic.

A definite recommendation!

I was fortunate to receive a copy of this book through BookSirens and willingly leave this honest review!

Overall it was fine. There were some typos that should have been caught (missing words for example), and the story itself was stingy on explanations.

It is the first book in a new series but you need to have read the others to get the full context because this book explains very little. I shouldn’t have to read an entire different series to understand what things important in this book are. It’s fine if I’d need to read them to get the depth of the world, but not explaining basic things just because they (I assume) have been covered in other books is just lazy.

Some other things that lowers the rating for me:
  • Another Queen says all that is happening is her fault and the MC doesn’t ask follow up questions?
  • Sexism is a thing apparently, but not evenly applied. It was basically if they’re evil they think women are beneath them, but otherwise the society is mostly without it. It rang false, basically.
  • Way too fast resolution between characters. There was an attempt at fixing this but even that was rushed.
  • Not explaining how this super powerful Queen was killed - it’s just brushed over.
  • Claiming MC ran away and had no contact with anyone and then later in the story she did have contact with people. Feels like the author changed their mind and didn’t bother going back to edit the first part.

It was fine overall but I don’t think I’m going to continue the story.

Arc review

After reading the Darkfell vampire clan series and the Blackstone vampire clan series, L.A. McGinnis is introducing us the Shadowsend vampire clan. Contrary to the first two series being based in the USA, this one brings us in Ireland, where queen Maeve is from.

Aisling (Ash) is the new heroin and she is in way over her head.

Secrets, lies, manipulation, self sacrifice, steamy, forbidden love and more.

The uncertainty of the futur are directly connected to the unknown of the past.

Definitely should read read this.

It’s not necessary to have read the previous two series, but it’s a more complet experience if you did.
