Ivy Davis' parents wanted her to marry. She didn't want to be married to some stuffy old man, so she left home in search of her dream. She wanted to be a singer but she also had to support herself. She was going to apply to be a governess but accidentally knocked at the wrong door. August Avery needed a nursemaid for his cousin's daughter he was raising. After opening the door and speaking with Ivy, he offered her a job on the spot and even though she knew nothing about being a nursemaid to a baby, she accepted. When you spend a lot of time with someone, feelings can sometimes change into something deeper. What about her singing career?

This story really pulled at my heartstrings. Ivy has tremendous ambition but like a lot of mothers nowadays, choices sometimes have to be made between family and career. I was also impressed with August and how he stepped up to take custody of his deceased cousin's infant daughter. Not many single men, especially back in those days, would have taken on the task. The chemistry between Ivy and August was very well written and built at a steady pace. It's often the end of a book that makes it or breaks it and this book had an ending that was so thoroughly complete, it makes me want to read it again. Bravo! Another fabulous book for this amazingly talented author.
