Review to come when I can process my emotions on such a beautiful end to an incredibly unique and memorable series.

Wexler may just become a new fav author of mine.

Look it is a good book and very good series and I feel like I’m nitpicking with some of my critiques but. First off I said it in the first and second review as well, the Map. Is doesn’t work, it’s to dark not detailed enough and doesn’t actually convey how (big vast etc) the journeys taken in the book. Just leaves me kinda curious and travel (via foot) seems wildly faster then book one. The ending was super sweet and I loved that. Get a lot of bonus points for that. The story was good. As I said before it kinda all came to a head in two/three chapters and felt like a bit of an explosion of “stuff”. The pacing seems brilliant until the end but I thought the same about the second book. All in all a good series and please let me draw your maps in the future.

The Council and Senate have conferred responsibility to the Corruptor to rule the new Chosen Empire.
Declared traitor, Maya can only seek someone called Xalen in the Forge and hope a solution presents herself.

“He knows what his role is supposed to be in the story we tell ourselves, and he just steps into it.”

We also learn more about the history of the downfall of the Chosen through flashbacks of The Corruptor through Zephkiel, a dhakim researcher in Stoneroot.
We finally get some backstory to Ashok and the Plague, and the demise of the Empire - ans the lies spun.

Maya felt like she was reading a horror story, and the protagonist was about to go into the basement with the monster.

I loved seeing the development of all the characters from book one to here. Enemies, to allies, to enemies, to… Allies to lovers, to attempted murder, to…
It was just a whirlwind of fun!
Also, shout out to Kit because she is probably the most entertaining character I have read recently.

I think book two was my favourite of the series, but book three was probably my second favourite. Probably because this was more battle heavy and certain things seemed to fall into place too easily.

I think I wanted longer books which is a pretty high-handed complimentary weakness!

If you enjoyed the TV show Arcane, I would definitely recommend this!

 4 STARS

CW: violence, war, death, blood, gore

So first and foremost, I LOVE that in the beginning of this book we get a recap of what happened before in the series - that helped so much and I believe every series should start doing this. Eases the reading experience and reduces the need to actually reread the entire previous installment in my opinion. I'm hoping this will become more common practice!

Now onto the actual book. I tremendously enjoyed it and while reading it was once again very apparent that the book was inspired by Star Wars which only led me to want to rewatch Star Wars again...

I really liked this conclusion to the series and seeing Maya and Gyre alongside their allies. It was definitely a satisfying conclusion to an entertaining series that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys Star Wars or is looking for a solid trilogy that is already finished!
