Marrying into rich family sounds great at first… but marrying into rich family so you can dissuade the son from the woman he loves…. Not so much

i quite liked the first half, but the second kind of disappointed me. i think i expected the story to develop in a way it didn’t, and large swaths of the writing read like a fanfic to me. when she started seriously narrating the wealth she was experiencing, i lost interest and started skimming. we get it. you are rich now. i wish we heard the perspective of “the other woman”. in fact, that is my largest gripe with the story, as i was so curious to know what she thought of things. i understand it was afi’s story, though… interesting that afi and muna were physical opposites of one another. i don’t personally understand a good amount of the characters’ decisions, but hey.
glad afi chose afi.

I like the plot. It reminds me of a Nollywood movie, with a somewhat unexpected ending. I'd like to read a sequel (if it ever happens)

is it mean to say that my rating went down the more i read? like damn i remember being halfway thru and even considering this as a 5 star book. idrk what happened its like hard to explain. I can totally see where the comparison to crazy rich asians comes from tho. I feel like I was sooo happy for Afi and Eli at first then I got annoyed at Afi and then I was finally happy with them again but then like the whole reveal with Muna (which was VERY obvious) kind of just ruined it for me like..oh?? tbf i literally just finished the book so this rating might change but rn its like a 3,5 stars. I really did enjoy this book mostly, especially since it reminded me of dele weds destiny. Maybe in like a year I could reread this book and enjoy it even more.
