Quien mucho abarca, poco aprieta.

I was worried the romance would be lost in the plot and wars happening, but I was gladly disproven. I was also not expecting Oscar from this book, but that was great.

Damn I can’t get enough

I seriously can’t get enough of Bernie and her men ugh perfection at its finest.

F*ck the Thing. It got what it deserved. So did Scott. I hope nurse Yes-Scott makes it on the list. I can’t wait for Kali, the charter crew, Billie, Ophelia, Pamela, and the rest of them to get what they deserve.

H.A.V.O.C and Bernie deserve happiness. So do their girls.

Some of my favorite quotes:

Really? My beautiful Bernadette’s time wasted selling weed? Not while I’m still breathing; my girl has potential. “No, I don’t think so,” I say, studying my cigarette. I can feel Aaron’s eyes narrow on me, even before I turn around. He knows how selfish I am, how much I want the girl that was supposed to be his. “If Bernadette wants Havoc’s help, she’ll have to become one of us.” ~Vic

Does she know I used to press my palms against the outside of that door, put my ear to the wood and close my eyes, just to hear the sound of her? When she cried, I broke. When she screamed, I shattered. ~Vic

“Just to be clear: I’m not upset that Danny Ensbrook is dead. I’m upset that I did it with too many witnesses, and that I put us all at risk. I’d kill the world to save you, Bernadette.”~ Cal

“Better, maybe, but not like me. Nobody will love you the way I do, Bernadette Blackbird.” ~Vic

But people who kill other people are murderers, right? Villains. Only a villain can truly stop another villain. There is no room in this world for heroes; they only get in the way. ~Bernie

I once read a book, some time loop story called Devils’ Day Party, where the main character said, “Lying to other people is insane; lying to yourself is suicidal.” ~Bernie

As Kendall Jenner once said, you act like I’m not in full control of where I throw this cooch.”~Bernie

Even in the face of hate, of pain, of ruin, Bernadette has never stopped watching us. Never stopped loving us. And we, we love her. Me, most of all. She just doesn’t know it. ~Cal

She thinks that I barely know who she is. In reality, I’ve turned into a fucking stalker, my eyes following her even when she thinks no one is watching. ~Cal

The only thing we could agree on was that none of us could ever have her. Because as much as we loved Bernadette, we always loved each other, too. She could destroy us from the inside out and we knew that, even at a young age. ~Hael

“You’re the only woman I know who could go from being handcuffed in the back of a squad car to choking the life out of an armed police officer in less time than it takes most people to decide what movie to watch on a Friday night.”~Oscar

Can authors please stop using the phrase "that *adjective* *noun* of yours?" it's incredibly disturbing to read! Just say "your (*adjective*) *noun*" no need to reinvent the fucking wheel and then run it into the ground.

Very entertaining but the writing and editing suck ass. The author will constantly repeat dialogue, seemingly forgetting that she literally JUST wrote that line, and so many lines will refer to something which isn’t even referenced! It makes it so annoying to read because the dialogue makes such little sense but still quite fun.

This book really added to the series. Here, we see the history of all the boys INDIVIDUALLY + Bernie. Not a collective history, but what Bernie means to each one. You get to see the behind-the-scenes things the boys have done for her. Things she never knew.

We get to go back and see Vic's POV when Bern called Havoc. Vic is so intuitive, that he knew what it meant for Bern to call Havoc. It meant she was out of options...that her wings were clipped. We get to dive deeper into Aaron's guilt. How he could possibly give up Bern for Havoc. It shows that Havoc isn't a gang. It really is a family. They all have to sacrifice something for the family. Hael was so impassioned about keeping Bernie safe from The Thing, that he nearly took a drastic step, willing to sacrifice himself for Bernie. Callum turned into a stalker just to ensure she could get some peace. And Oscar....Oscar is a man after my own heart. Oscar is the most wholesome, least selfish of them all.

At last, we see the downfall of The Thing. A fitting and poetic end. We get to see a wedding. Bernie is more empowered now. She's not so ready to run. She's starting to trust. Not with just herself, but Heather too. She's starting to love. That healing underlies the entire book and the result is a surprisingly emotional read.

My opinion of this is much like the one I had about the first book of the series. It’s unrealistic, the characters act stupid (how often can you have unprotected sex, dear god) and it’s superficial. I want to see genuine connections form between these characters, I want more sweet and sincere moments, but instead the author relies so heavily on this narrative that they’ve all been in love with Bernie forever.

They would all die and kill for etc, they’ve loved her for years, she holds their hearts in her hands yadda yadda, and yet it seems that Stunich doesn’t abide by the #1 writers advice of *show, don’t tell*. Idk, Even in dark romances and enemies to lovers stories, usually you have these sweet and genuine moments that make you kinda understand why the heroine is falling for these bastards, and I’m severely missing those in this series. Like, there are only so many cheesy metaphors and convoluted Love declarations I can take. These are teenagers, ffs. Nobody talks like that. Seriously, Some of the shit they say (especially Bernie) made me cringe so hard. And it’s not just the things they say, the actual writing itself is full of purple prose, too.

It’s still entertaining, though. I’ll keep reading, curious to see how all of this keeps developing. I mean, three more books? We’ll see how she decides to fill them, I guess. I’ve also decided I *wouldn’t* recommend these books to anybody else. There’s much, much better dark reverse harem stories out there. (I might be a little biased by the fact that I’m truly and well over this high school setting.)
