I enjoyed this book. It was a fast read. Amy and Elder alternate as chapter narrator and I sometimes felt as if there wasn't enough difference in their voices. Overall I was sucked into the story and for the most part it kept me guessing until the end.

I freaking loved this book to pieces. I'm not usually a fan of sci-fi books, and honestly the only reason I picked this book up was because I was being rushed for time and the cover looked cool. But I am so glad I read it because it was amazing. Amy was an amazing heroine, because unlike most girls in the books I've read, she is strong and handles her situations well. Elder was the perfect hero, and ohmygosh it was just incredible. One of the few books I've read that doesn't have a boring beginning, and I was very shocked by the ending.

Enjoyable book! It took me a bit to get into it, mainly because I thought Amy was more interesting than Elder and the first couple chapters of the book were more focused on him than Amy, but by the end of the book I enjoyed both characters equally.
I mean, sure there's a twist. Twists are great, and although I figured it out rather early on in the book (almost like I was being smacked with it over the head)...I still found it very suspenseful. So if you figure it out it doesn't really ruin anything. I didn't get the mini twist at the end, so just wait.
Possible spoiler...I thought of this book as The Giver in Space. Sort of. Not exactly the same, but similarities.

3 estrellas justitas.

This was such a surprising read for me. I usually stay away from the Sci-Fi stuff but the "secrets and lies" part always reels me in. I couldn't put the book down! It was twist after twist and I just needed to know what happened! The end didn't let me down!

This was an great beach read! I read it in one sitting, it definitely had its flaws but it was very captivating and the characters were interesting. I was expecting this to be some kind of cheesy teen space romance book, but it was so much better than that. I look forward to reading the other two books in this trilogy!

Well, let me start with the things that this is not. It is not a suspenseful murder mystery. It is not a romance - more of an attempted pre cursor to a potential romantic relationship.
And what it is... slow to get going. It is good at making you question morals and what you would do in the characters' situation. Somehow good at stringing you along, but that might be the completionist in me.
Overall, I feel a little bored after finishing this book. It wasn't the absolute worst in the world it just had the potential to be so much better than it was. The world was pretty interesting, or should I say lack of it. Revis could have done so much more with the characters and quite a but of the plot I found quite predictable i.e. who the murderer is and what happened to Harley. I feel like maybe the book included more than it could handled as everything was half hearted. The mystery, the romance, there wasn't really a conclusive ending. Unfortunately, Across the Universe fell flat for me.
Recommends to: People who might like to explore moral questions, readers with low expectations, people who enjoy bland romances and predictable mysteries.

Across the Universe-- interesting premise. Cryogenically frozen scientists and military leaders aboard a space vessel bound for an unknown but promising new planet that will take hundreds of years to reach. But they are not hurtling through space alone. A colony of inhabitants live their lives in the vastness of the ship, repopulating for future generations who will form the masses of the new planet. But they are strictly controlled in body and mind except for the brilliant creative sorts who keep the masses entertained and soothed. They too, are controlled, though less substantially by the belief that they are the oddball crazies, unalike their complacent and subservient counterparts. It is all ruled "benevolently" by Eldest, who turns out to be anything but benevolent. When Amy, a sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl frozen with her essential parents is "accidentally" awoken before the ship reaches its destination, all hell breaks loose as the truth slowly unfolds. And I do mean slowly. This book meanders and meanders. It is not a wow, I can't stop reading thrill. I read it quickly because it is now overdue at the public library and I cannot renew it. I was disappointed. Wanted to love it but didn't form any attachment to the characters and don't care what happens to them in the next installment. Sorry, but this will not get my vote for Printz.

Fantastic concept. I loved how the author revealed a little bit about this society at a time, making me crave to know more about this ship, Godspeed, and it's passengers. Can't wait for Book #2.
