I thought perhaps this book could help me pare down all my hobbies and things I love to do. I knew it wasn't a time management novel, but I didn't gain a lot from it. I just could not identify with the author's quest, and I'm not entirely sure she found what she was looking for. I felt bad for the author, a woman old enough and rich enough and privileged enough and living in NYC, and still not happy.

Happiness is all around...just reach out for it:)

It took more than I expected for me to get through this book.
Despite how much I like this topic, I sincerely disliked this book. Rubin is a narcissistic, self-absorbed, somewhat obnoxious writer. She comes across as an incredibly well-off and well-educated woman, who nags, nitpicks, is overly negative and who still can't seem to find any happiness in her life.

There are some good points in this book buried underneath her literary name-dropping and ridiculous internal monologues. However, I don't think they manage to drag this book up into the 'useful' category. There are better books on this topic around I don't think that the few good points Rubin had make up for the rest of this wretched book.

I would not recommend this.

DNF audiobook. I made it to 74%, at which point it just felt like a running list of all the amazing things Ms. Rubin was accomplishing (did these things actually make her happy? or is she happy thinking about how impressed we'll all be? I don't know!). Rather than feeling inspired, it just made me feel exhausted. Moving on.

Finally finished this over the weekend. A lot of good suggestions for simple ways to increase your happiness. A little dry for me at times, and thinking of all of these things at once is a bit overwhelming, but overall idea is a great one and throughout this first half of the year, I've noticed a few suggestions creeping in my life in small ways. :)
