I was one of the few who honestly thought the first one was a good book, but this continuation was just absolutely breathtaking. I have only reacted to one other book at this emotional level before. All the questions I had during the first one were all answered. She writes in such a intricate way that is truly beautiful to me. Never taking the easy route with every situation these characters encounter, you quickly realize every word and reaction has a precise reason. I had no idea what was going to happen, but I felt like she knew exactly where she wanted to go and loved watching as each step of this world unfurled itself.
“I am a Shotet. I am sharp as broken glass, and just as fragile. I see all of the galaxy and never catch a glimpse of it. “
The war that’s between Shotet, the exiled Shotet, and Thuvhe becomes less clear on good vs evil. Both have good and bad to their actions, but are fighting for what they believe in and to protect their people. The Shotet have become warriors who are fighting to not be suppressed anymore and the pride of the people is written really well. I found myself having pride for them as well. I love that they say what they think and are blunt. I’m angry that Laz is the way he is, but understand how he became that way. But I’m really glad she went further into developing them as a nation, so you can cheer the exiled Shotet on.
Now comes my favorite part of this series: Cyra and Akos, both individually and together. Cyra is energy and opinion. Akos is emotion and purpose. They are both the same and also opposite and I just am obsessed with them. Every twist and turn she took us through had me holding my breath. I think i screamed and cried about 10 times throughout this book, but the way she ended it is perfect. Now let me go cry for three days straight now that I finished this series...

Good series, YA and futuristic. The crazy names were very distracting for me the whole time unfortunately.
