Loved the characters and the world. Roth is redeemed from the horrors of the last few books of the divergent series.

Ah fck.
Goddamn this was a good book and exactly what I needed to end it. As previously, Roth completely smashed the grappling of identities and emotions in these characters. She actually nailed it. Too often I feel Characters in situations such as this are put into rigidly opposing categories of good or bad, this side versus another in a war but I loved how their identities and positions collided and shifted constantly through this book. It was refreshing and so much more realistic. Words cannot describe how proud I am of Cyra coming to understand and bare her power - from not being able to function through pain to DEFENDING VOA AGAINST AN ANTICURRENT BLAST. I will say though, the use of “said” pissed me off so much, please use another word ohmygodddd - not to mention how much more evident it was when listening to the audiobook (wasn’t a big fan of this narration tho yikes). All in all, this book was so much better than carve the mark and I loved it!
