I liked it, the story was good. I just didn't like some of the choices the author made.
I also didn't like the changing POVs! Just as soon as you were starting to feel the flow of the story and get in the motion, the pov changed, and the story continued from somewhere else. It was like jumping around continually and getting nowhere. It took me so long to finish, mostly because of the lack of coherence. But the ending chapters picked up the pace and were good at making me want to read and finish it.

Cisi could use some more explanation. I liked her. How she acted, and how she somehow became the true leader. Her fate was dumb though. It could be something in line with how she controls or manipulates the chancellor in the end.
Ast was a really annoying character that came out of nowhere, he was just put there for the sake of a few plot points. He didn't have any background or storytime. Or it’s just that I didn't get him.
I HATED how the author killed off Jorek. He was seriously one of the few sensible characters. And I could go as far as to say my favorite one.
We could use some more of Vakrez and his husband, but I guess the author already had her hands full with other characters.
Akos in the end was really good. I liked his actions and his thoughts. They were understandable and in character. He couldn't kill Lazmet with poisoning and had to fight hand to hand with him. The symbolization shows that he couldn't go back to Thuve's ways and he had to do it the Shotet way. He couldn't fit in with them anymore, he couldn’t go back even though he tried so hard.
In the end, he was driven away so far that he couldn't go back.
I can't say I didn't enjoy it. It was a good read, but I enjoyed the first book better. It placed my expectations much higher and I wanted more, I think it kinda disappointed me by not meeting them.
All in all, enjoyable.✨
