4.5/5 ⭐️
This was way better than I expected it to be.
Millie is fresh out of prison with nowhere to go when she applies for a job as a live-in nanny for the Winchesters. It seems too good to be true- Nina is sweet, Andrew is handsome and the pay is jaw dropping. But once she moves into the tiny attic bedroom with the lock on the outside of the door, she starts to get a little nervous. Nina begins acting erratic, the house is a disaster, and what’s up with their daughter, Cecilia’s, creepy doll dresses? Nina is acting crazier and crazier by the day, and Millie is on the verge of quitting when Andrew starts being kind to her. And making goo-goo eyes at her. And having sympathy for her, as if he totally understands just how crazy his wife is.
The book takes a turn about halfway through, and the ending is really so crazy. Freida’s style of writing is very plot- based, cut and dry, straight to the point. Which is good if you’re looking for a quick read with a twist. Knocking half a point off for the sake of prose and emotion. I CANT WAIT to watch this movie! The casting of Sydney Sweeney as Millie is literally spot on.

Once I got to part 2, I knew I had to finish this book today. I fkn LOVE a good twist and this book had several. Like I knew Andy was too good to be true, but I wasn’t expecting the full extent of his social reach. Also Enzo is a pure soul who deserves the best ugh. Contemplating if I want to read the rest in this series or just leave it to the unknown.

The logistics of the plot were a little all over the place for me. The motives of the characters were a little unclear. The writing was done well!
