Carrie a successful T.V. producer with an award winning screenwriter husband Adrian finds herself pregnant and is looking for a temporary replacement while she goes on maternity leave.
Emma , a 24 year old script editor feels like a perfect fit and everyone seems to love her but Carrie soon starts to suspect that there might be an ulterior motive to Emma's intentions.

The Temp is my second book by Michelle Frances after loving her first book The Girlfriend. It is a fast, entertaining read with some expected and some unexpected twists. Looking forward to reading the next one by Michelle Frances.

I would like to thank Kensington Books & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Not my kind of writing style I can get into. It was an alright story but predictable.

Just when I thought I had it figured out there was a twist that threw me off track. At first glance it seems to be a story of a Temp trying to take over the life of the successful woman whose job she's working at but that is not it. There is something more to her obsession with the job and when things don't go her way things get crazy. A quick and crazy ride that keeps you guessing..

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc for my honest review

This was yet another novel that promised to be a twisting thriller but fell short of the mark for me.
The problem was that I went into this thinking it was going to be some dark and twisty thriller which is maybe my fault for having those expectations for this book but I just felt so underwhelmed. I didn’t see the twists that did occur, but they just didn’t have enough impact for me. The characterisation was well done and I found myself hating Adrian for being the massive tool that he is and feeling sorry for both Carrie and Emma, despite the fact that Emma started doing questionable things. Similar to through his eyes, I’d maybe say this was more of a contemporary with some twists so if that’s more what you enjoy then I think you’d enjoy this, but I’m used to my thrillers being a lot darker and shocking which definitely made this more of an average read.

I'm not feeling this plot twist. Not at all.

I've tried reading this book once before but lost my place and didn't continue. This time I was actually really into it. It's probably 70% baby Rory but also it was fast-paced and entertaining.

I enjoyed it. It didn't make a strong enough impression, though.

Adrian and Carrie are they perfect couple he’s a screen writer and she’s a producer. When Carrie becomes pregnant and has a precious baby boy named Rory, her employer hires Emma as a temp to fill Carries position until she comes back. Carrie is left alone at home with a crying baby and a husband who is becoming a reluctant father. Everyone at Carries work seem to have fallen under Emma’s spell including Adrian she seems like such a perfect fit. Soon Carrie starts to suspect Emma isn’t everything she’s portraying it seems likes she’s out for Carries job and even her husband. Carries paranoia grows when she finds Emma snooping in Adrain’s office and discovering that Adrian and Emma went to their beach home to work on a script alone along with a few suspicious text messages. Carrie starts digging into Emma’s past and soon finds out she does have a connection to Emma and so does Adrian and when everything comes out it may ruin their life. I enjoyed this book very much. It was a quick read and I give it four stars! I haven’t read the authors previous book but after this one I will be checking it out! This book is perfect for thriller lovers! Thank you so much Kensington books for my free copy this book will be available January 29th 209!

Not a bad read but I think the pacing of the story was a little off. When twists were revealed, it felt a bit late on and meant there was little examination of the effects. I’d have liked more in some parts of the story and less in others!

I did think it was a cleverly constructed plot and the surprises were just that.

It definitely kept me interested and had some unexpected twists, but I thought all the characters were pretty horrible... It was a great easy beach read but ultimately a bit unsatisfying.
