An imaginative tale with an important message, evidently a prequel to a book I will be getting my hands on as soon as possible, but it's the ART that blew me away, the sense of movement, the way each page is filled to the brim, the colour. Haida Manga is a fusion of the author's own invention and I'm sincerely glad there's more of it out there to read.

Carpe Fin is the product of a Haida artist, Haida Nation being an indigenous group whose traditional unceded land is also in/off the coast of, what is now called British Columbia. The story continues to feel painfully relevant in talking of oil spills, climate change-spurred natural disasters, attempting to live in harmony with nature, and the creation/reclamation of sustainable fishing practices.
