What to say about this gutting, moving, infuriating, inspiring, devastating book. I admire the courage and strength of Chanel Miller, her unwavering commitment to the truth and her dedication to survivors everywhere.

This book is not a light read, and Chanel makes it clear that there is no happy ending. Nevertheless, you should read it. Everyone should. Thank you, Chanel, for summoning the courage it took to write this book. The world is better for it.

This book was absolutely amazing. Not only was Chanel’s brave writing stunning, but her ability to bring you into the moment speaks to all survivors and nonsurvivors alike. It was infuriating, hopeful, sad, happy, confusing, and more. I obsessively followed the case when it was happening so to hear her perspective was incredibly powerful.

You have to read this book to understand women, rape culture, our justice system, and people more...but I wouldn’t recommend it before bed.

Wow. What a powerful and important book. Miller is an incredible writer. She walks the reader through a brutal, overwhelming process including the aftermath of her assault, enduring a confusing and challenging criminal justice system, managing the media perceptions/misperceptions of her and her case, and the healing process. She also poignantly observes and critiques the systems she navigated and the larger socio-cultural context from which her circumstance were created. I imagine Miller's book brings a voice to the experience of so many others who have experienced something similar.

This book is not an easy read, however I would recommend it to everyone.
