i've been challenging the way i view nonfiction and rating it with a rating system, but parts of this book were written so tenderly that i have to acknowledge that. i thank chanel's words every day for carrying so much of my february reading month. this book left me in awe of the power words have. chanel is a spectacular human being and this piece of work reflects that.

I have A LOT of good things to say about this memoir but I’ll make it short here :

This is by far the most eye opening book I’ve read !

I wish it was a mandatory read for all humans, especially men because it teaches empathy, broadens people’s perspective about sexual assaults and highlights the flaws of the American criminal justice system, but more importantly it inspires meaningful change.

Chanel’s ability to analyse her rape, the trial, and everything that revolves around her trauma is very impressive and insightful.

One of the most poignant memoirs I’ve ever read. Both tragic and tremendous.
