Absolutely adored this book. And the ending gave me all the feels. From the first page, I felt deeply connected to the characters. The story is both sad and hopeful, full of magic and wonder of nature. Yes, there is witch magic, but it's so interconnected with the world. I found that simply beautiful. Having lived in the Pacific Northwest, I could feel myself in that old growth forest, which does have a magic. Turning fear and anxiety into hope and even joy—simply amazing. And although I knew how the story would end, I loved seeing how things played out.

I loved the nature of witches and this was just as good! The descriptions are amazing and of course great characters! Hopefully there will be more coming!

this is REALLY well-written YA. i was so nervous i wouldn't like this one as much as The Nature of Witches, but boy was i wrong, and boy was i HOOKED from start to finish. i personally don't think any part of it was too cheesy, as some romance scenes were in Griffin's previous book (though i gave that one 5 stars too lol).
this author knows exactly how to write a witchy book. she knows the right amount of whimsy and magic to incorporate within a story, and you can just feel her passion for nature radiate through the pages. i loved the characters in this book, and the deeper reasonings behind their actions/opinions. i thought i would hate the reason why Pike hates witches, and i thought i would hate the fact that this story revolves around a bird. but wow was i invested in the hunt for this cursed owl until the very end. the magic systems in both of Rachel Griffin's books have been so fun to read, and i can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

If there were one word to sum this book up, it would be 'forgiveness'. It is a story that shows what can happen if we forgive ourselves, those we love, and even those we don't. It was a lovely, cosy read, and although it was tense at times, the beautiful descriptions of nature, animals and natural habitat made this the perfect non-challenging comfort read.

I really liked this book. I don’t mind reading YA books & this is more on the YA side but I still was very drawn into the story. I definitely was rooting for both the MFC & MMC. They both had great chemistry. Their banter was spot on & not cringy. It flowed. I am a fan of enemies to lovers & that’s what this book is. Plus, it has lots of animals! I just thought the ending was a bit too clique for my tastes, which is why it’s getting a 4.
