I love books like this but this book was a complete mess. The back story of the main character was forced upon the reader. It was brought up during a scene that it had no business being in. But the worst part of the book was at chapter 6 you knew who the killer was. Where the hell is the mystery in it? Was not impressed and would not recommend.

These books featuring Sean Corrigan were a real find! Dark psychological murders with an equally dark detective. As soon as I finished one on my Kindle I downloaded the next - there are three so far. If you like dark crime you'll love these.

Ok. Takes some interesting twists and turns. Leaves you wondering at the end, just the right amount.
On the other hand, some of the dialogue and narrative was stilted and weird. There was a lot of "sensing presences" sort of magically, without any evidence - but inevitably each characters' sense was correct. This has the potential to be a good series, and I may come back to it... later.

3.5/5 stars. A really good first book. I always have issues with any character who has special abilities to get inside the head of the killer because of their experiences. This plot strategy was the book's biggest weakness in my opinion. The book would have been stronger without these extra special powers.
