Very good! Really helpful for my AP World History class actually, having a historically accurate and immersing story was really helpful for my memorization of WW1 and details. I LOVED how it was narrated by Greek Gods (which helped me in my English class since we’re reading Oedipus) but I wish I could have developed more of a personal connection with the characters. I got very close to tears with Colette’s story about the Rape of Belgium, which we didn’t learn about in my history class. I wish there could have been more that got me to that part of my emotions, but this was an otherwise beautiful and heartwarming book.

I can't think of anything that I disliked about Lovely War. Historical fiction, romance, war, greek gods... it had just about everything I enjoy reading. I knew when I saw that both Kate Quinn and Ruta Sepetys (2 of my favorite historical fiction authors) said they liked it that this was going to be good. Fantastic.... I literally cannot come up with more words.

the greek god narration <3.
the couples <3.
*literally everything else*
i feel like it was a bit longer than necessary, and some of the war bits dragged on. otherwise, it was so good and i think everyone should read this book immediately

A solid book! I definitely teared up at the end, and got so angry for a moment!
