Faithless in Death

J.D. Robb

4.31 AVERAGE

I enjoyed riding along with Eve and Peabody and their crew - dismantling a very strange, racist, sexist, and homophobic cult led by a messianic egotistical man who encouraged his followers to beat their wives and children...and sent those who were not part of their "natural order" to camps that "re-oriented" them in torture like ways.

And it all started with a murder...

I do enjoy Ms Roberts writing as JD Robb, and anticipate each release in the series.

This particular book had high and low points for me. I couldn't rate it a 3, probably a 3.5.

Better than the most recent ones but not as good as the first few.

I enjoyed this installment in the series. I continue to appreciate how the theme of family - its growth through deepening roots and expanding branches - is woven into solving the crime. The nature of the crime in this story was also timely and compelling given current events.

I just finished the Nora Roberts Challenge, and already I’m behind again! Regardless, I picked up the newest In Death book, and Nora Roberts has outdone herself again. I loved it! It was one of her bigger stories, and I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book, especially as Dallas started gearing up for the takedown of the murderers. Faithless is definitely a must-read!

Book 50 something in eve Dallas series. Very formulaic and rich powerful people behaving badly. And moves much to fast for really policing but still I read.

Eve Dallas is back to the hard-hitting investigations we expect from her, interspersed with scenes of the family she's built around herself at home and on-the-job.

This one was brutal. On the character front, Mavis and Leonardo buy a house and start a sort of commune with Peabody and McNab. Nothing new happening with Dallas and Roarke other than allowing a bit more PDA around the cops.
