While I'm still working through Sarah J. Maas' general bibliography, I have at least read the 1st of each of her main fantasy series, and while I wouldn't say this is my favorite, I do think this is her strongest opening book for a series. A dark, urban fantasy buddy-cop (or more flirty-cop) mystery. Overall fun time, looking forward to where this series goes.

The first third of the book is difficult to get through but honestly totally worth it. The book is spectacular.

This book starts off very content heavy and slow, but picks up significantly towards the end. Don’t worry about understanding all the jargon, just push through — it’s worth it!
