I needed a break from fantasy books so when goodreads recommended me the third book in this series, I decided to check out the first one.
Overall, I think there were some missed opportunities. I think Harper's stalker thing could've been approached sooner and the ending was very anti-climatic. I was expecting the guy to show up and there be a big fight/escape scene that would leave me at the edge of my seat but that didn't happen. I will say that I wasn't expecting Luke to be deployed halfway through the book so kudos to the author I guess.
I always say this, and I will say it again. Whenever there is a big secret between the main couple, I hate it when one of them has to find out via someone/something else, instead of the couple just opening up to each other. so when Harper found out about Luke's past without him telling her I was annoyed. Still, the author kind of made it work I guess.
Harper was so cool! I liked her a lot! She had a nice outlook on life and I liked how quickly she befriended those around her.
Luke was definitely the alpha male type. I only like alpha-male types if they aren't the controlling/obsessive type. For the most part Luke was a great hero tho he did annoy me at times.
Besides being anti-climatic, the ending was cute tho they didn't say how much time had passed since the last chapter to the epilogue.
I will probably skip the second book and go straight to the third one, which is the one I wanted to read all along.

Cute small town romance. I enjoyed Harper & Luke’s story. Luke did drive me a bit crazy at times but Harper was wonderful. It’s everything you expect from a Lucy Score novel. Looking forward to reading the other two in the series.
if i were harper luke would’ve been begging on his knees for two more chapters before they got back together. but oh god i haven’t cried so much in a while
This is my third read of this book and I realized I haven't reviewed it. What's to say that already hasn't been said. This book is amazing. It will have you laughing, crying, gasping and all around loving it. Luke is a gruff military man who is used to taking care of everyone. Harper is a tornado of a mess just trying to keep her head above water. They meet and suddenly a fake romance is in the works. These two are made for each other, if only they can see it themselves. Thank God for the side characters always stepping in and pushing these two to where they need to be. If you already know Lucy's writing then you will know this book won't disappoint!
Harper has lived a lifetime of tragedy and heartache. She carries many secrets but remains strong and so loveable I want to be her friend.
Luke has secrets of his own, some even touch home for me so deep down.
The most loveable and relatable characters in this small town. Romance, love, death, heartache, heartbreaking stories of tragedy, past and present.
When you read a book and feel connected to both main characters, it’s hard to believe it’s fiction, because you can’t stop thinking about it. , I had some crazy laughs and a box of tissues while I savored every minute of it.
It’s my first Lucy Score book and it will never be my last. A must read!
I will never forget this book, it’s all that’s been on my mind for the past few days while reading it.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for the ARC of Lucy Score's Pretend You're Mine. This is my first Lucy Score book and I was excited because I had heard rave reviews. This book was fast paced and kept my attention throughout. It reminded me a bit of Gilmore Girls (without the daughter). It was also heavy and emotional at times. It was a little hard for me to read some of National Guard aspects only because I am familiar with the lifestyle and some of it was fairly unrealistic. However, overall I really enjoyed this one and I am looking forward to the sequel.
Lucy Score is a master of romance, and this one doesn't disappoint. I became a fan after Things We Never Got Over and Pretend You're Mine has cemented her as one of my auto-read authors. The characters, the setting, the chemistry gives you all the feels.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc of the re-release.

I feel like this book had a slow start for me, but once I got into it I didn’t want to put it down. Military romances are not my favorite romance books, but I have read other books by Lucy Score and loved them so I thought this would be one I would enjoy and I was right! Lucy Score’s main characters steal the show just like normal and her wonderful townspeople are always a hoot for adding extra drama or comedy to the story. I loved reading about Luke and Harper’s relationship growing, as they pretended everything happening to them was just fake. This is a very cute small town romance!
