This small town romance was so fun, heartwarming and poignant. It is a story filled with interesting and quirky characters, a small town atmosphere where everyone is in your business but also very loving and supportive, and a story that is moving, suspenseful, captivating, and steamy. Harper is strong, resilient, and loving. She will fight for the underdog because she knows what it feels like to be vulnerable. Luke is a local military man with regrets, guilt, and a past he has buried with his capacity to live. When he and Harper strike up a mutual partnership, neither expected the sparks and emotions that would blossom between them. They frustrated me at times, and I didn't always agree with some actions, but they were good together balancing their flaws and making each other stronger. Melissa Moran did an amazing job at bringing this story to life. Her expressive voices and ability to convey their complex emotions from the dramatic to the funny, from panic to passion, and all the sweet moments in between was superb, allowing us to feel empathy at their struggles and joy for their triumphs. she helped to make this poignant, heartfelt, and provocative story even better.

I loved it from page one the author grabs your attention from the first paragraph. She makes it feel like you are right there beside the characters going through the same emotions and struggles as they are. I will definitely recommend this book to all my friends once it hits paperback. I didn't want to stop reading until I knew what the ending was.

Once again Lucy Score has written a book that made me feel so many emotions. The characters are flawed, but that is what I loved about them. I enjoyed seeing how they helped each other grow and heal.

Trigger Warning: dead spouse

If you have loved other Lucy Score books, definitely pick this up. It was a really fun read with interesting characters and a cool spin on the classic romance. I did find that the beginning was a little fast-paced since a girl just agrees to stay at a stranger’s place as soon as they meet but, once I got into it, I enjoyed it. It had a fun small town energy and a fake dating trope as well as having the main male character be in the military. I was especially interested in the romantic plot of the side characters but that’s a good sign for the sequel that I plan to read next

Thank you to NetGalley and Bloom Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another full blown story. Writing style takes adjustment. It’s a lot of angst, but warranted. Abusive childhood and widower vet.

Already read once before still loved it
