I wanted to like this book but I just couldn’t. The main character was so annoying. She just inserted herself into places/moments she didn’t belong, and literally refused to be rejected. It was embarrassing to read at times. I also did not think the two of them had any real chemistry.

I had high expectations for this book, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to them. The FMC deserved a lot better than what she was given and deserved a lot more groveling at the end. Her telling him repeatedly that she loved him and him not saying it back, multiple important secrets between them, him not handling his PTSD…

Loved the storyline and the characters. The small town felt real and the supporting characters were charismatic. I did struggle with the two leads. Harper is a fireball. She enters by taking on a man for DV. She’s strong and positive. Why does she let Luke treat her like that? It didn’t feel right. He was kind of awful to you and used her completely. Then the third act break up was so frustrating after everything they’ve been through. The 6 months was so dragged in this book I felt like it was six months IRL! Ugh! Okay, you can see I was invested in this story. It really is good. Give it a try and see what you think!
