I can't express my love for this book. Obsession by Jennifer L. Armentrout is a spin-off of the Lux Series and a stand-alone. It's about Serena who witnesses her friend's death through a Luxen. She learns very fast that there are not only humans on earth. Hunter is sent to save her from her death, as she is a threat to the Luxen and Arum world. But Hunter is not human, he is Arum. But he lets us forget everything we know about them.
I have to be honest. This book is better than the whole Lux Series. I love the series with all my heart, it's one of my favorites, but this book blew me away. I realized a few months ago that I am more into new adult or adult books than into new adult ones. And Obsession is a fantastic new adult/adult book. For me it had everything a good book needs. Moments for laughing, some for crying and lots of moments that caused a giant swarm of butterflies in my stomach! The book is rough in many ways. Lots of characters get killed, there are lots of fights and the relationship between Serena and Hunter is not hearts and flowers, I mean Hunter is not a hearts and flowers man. But the book is perfect in its ways. I enjoyed reading it and would like to read it all over again.
Serena is a dream. She is sassy, but cares so much for others, no matter if they are human or alien. She goes through a lot and deserves the best. Hunter is hot. And badass. He is a fighter and arrogant one. He needs to decide what is good and what is bad, but no matter what he is fighting for, he always gives 100 %. Both of them are amazing. They are more adult than Katy and Daemon.
I am so devastated that this is only a single book! I would love to read more books about Hunter and Serena. I want to know about their future and how they are doing. Jennifer L. Armentrout is my queen of authors. I can't wait to read more and more books from her. I really recommend this book as well as the Luxen Series.
Second (official) read: Still love this book. This is my go to book when I just need a good read!
Third read: Read this book twice this year. Do I regret it? Nope. It's one of my favourites!
