I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a bit hard for me to rate. On the one hand I liked this book a lot. It was a fun read and had some really good characters, especially Emeranne. She is a great lead character. Just the right amount of snarky and sweet and I love that. I can't stand characters that are too much one way or the other. If they are too sweet it isn't realistic enough, because honestly is there any girl out there that is just overly sweet all of the time? Then if they are too snarky they are just bratty and I want to smack them. Unfortunately I know girls like this and no one wants to be around them so why would anyone want to read about them. With Emeranne you get a character that feels real. That being said I had some serious issues with parts that I didn’t like. First is Bennett. I almost put Bennett under the 'liked' section. Let me explain. Bennett is a sweet character. He has this boy-next-door feel which is charming and lovable. That is the problem. While I do love the boy-next-door character, Bennett is definitely not supposed to be that way. He has an awful past where he has murdered people because that is what his kind is supposed to do. I feel like he character would have been a bit better if he had a bit more of the 'bad boy trying to go good' feel. Then there is the lack of depth in the story. This book seemed a bit rushed and to me it often felt like the story was skimmed over in many places. If you like to read books that are shorter without a lot of meat to the story then this is a fun read. I just prefer a little more when I read. This is definitely not a knock on the author! Tons of people love novellas and shorter novels. This is just my preference. The biggest part of the story that I had an issue with was the witchcraft. I don't usually have an issue with magic, witchcraft, etc, as long as it is more of a....pretend magic story, like Harry Potter. In this book the kids in the coven use spirit boards and in depth rituals. This was just a bit much for me. Again just personal opinion. I ended up deciding to meet in the middle on a rating since I was going back and for so much.

I received a free copy of this ARC from the author via the group "Lovers of Paranormal" in exchange for an honest review.

This book sounded so promising! The storyline is actually quite good, the execution - not so much. At 11% I had nine notes with major issues.
The biggest draw back of this book is the character list at the beginning. To me a character list is merely a help for the reader, but in this book, it is crucial to read and memorize every single character and their powers, "faction" and family ties. I have never encountered that in a book before, and I really don't understand why the author chose to do it this way.

I liked the story, it is an interesting take on the whole witch vs. witch hunter theme, but the need to memorize the character list just ruined it all.
The author is really good at describing the environment and actions in the book. Sometimes you get an abundance of info, sometimes almost nothing. The town square description went on for about a page and a half, and so did the entire summer.. Things like that makes the book a choppy read.

I had several notes starting with "Wait, what??" along the way. An OK debut novel, with the potential of being really good.

Fix the need to memorize a character list, the logical flaws and the book would probably be worthy of a 3.5 - 4 star rating.

I read almost 100 pages before I started scanning and eventually skipped to the last chapter. This is definitely an "if you can't say anything nice" situation, so I'm going to keep it short. Pevato is running with a great concept here- witches with various skills living in one town operating in basically the same coven to keep themselves safe are faced with terror as long-dormant witch hunters reemerge, one of whom may be our may character's actual soul-mate- but the execution just wasn't as striking as it could have been for too many reasons. I really want this author to keep going. There is so much potential.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review (Lovers of Paranormal). Most of the residents in the tiny alpine town of Snow Valley have no idea that witches live amongst them. There are Ice Born, Den Born, and Fire Born. Trusting their Ice Visions, the coven is devastated when a tragedy occurs with no warning. This book was more YA than I'm into, but it was undeniably a good story. I will read the next one because it was a good story that left me hanging.

I stopped reading before I got too far. I didn't like the way it was written, it was pretty confusing to follow and didn't seem to have a logical flow. I might continue this if I run out of things to read on my Kobo.

I don't make a sound. I don't flinch. I wander quietly, quietly, deeper into the dark forest, guided by the pure light of a full moon and the sparkly glow of lantern bugs

Actual Rating - 3.5 stars

Tessa Goode is a witch and part of the Snow Valley Coven. She is gifted with the Sight, but the sight failed her when it came to a murder of a member of the older coven. Tessa also dreams about a boy, in a dark forest. She sees only his grey eyes and his silver veins. William is an immortal witch hunter. He sketches the face of a girl he doesn't know. Until he goes to Snow Valley.

The first half of the story seemed really promising. But the second half lost its mojo and let me down a little bit. I still did enjoy it but if the second half held my attention the same as the first I probably would have rated this about 4.5.

I will start with the characters. I liked Tessa, but I felt when it came to William she got blubbery and weepy real fast. When she found out who William was she reacted how I would expect some one to react which was good. She wasn't one of those girls who believed his every word straight away, she actually ran like hell and tried to crush him with trees. William was an ok character for me. He was a little creepy with the stalking, (she also seemed freaked out by that so that's a plus), but other than that he was just an average character for me. Their relationship was also just average, I didn't feel much of the chemistry, so it felt a little flat to me. I would have really loved for some more internal dialogue so I could have maybe connected with the characters a bit more easily. I really did love all her friends - Morgan etc. They all held their own personalities and weren't just cardboard cut-outs so that was a positive.

The story itself was quite riveting and it really did keep me interested and turning the pages. I was a little confused at the end,
I'm assuming she thought that William was dead so kissed him, getting poisoned and is dying when William wakes up.
. I felt the villains were not very complex and a bit predictable with the shut up you stupid little witch comments - but then again they didn't have much motivation apart from the fact that they were witch hunters, so I guess it was not really needed for the story.

Overall, it was a pretty good read, fairly short, so if you are looking for a good YA paranormal romance then I do highly suggest that you check this one out.
