Now The Force Awakens is out and they can go into a bit more detail about the state of the galaxy in the sequel trilogy these books are really starting to do their own thing.
Toujours intéressant de savoir en partie ce qui s'est passé entre les épisodes 6 et 7
Far superior to the first book, the writing feels much more coherent and the actual character work is the biggest highlight. They feel like living and breathing characters with real affection for one another. It means actual twists and moments between them hit much harder than they ever did in the original.

The small adventuring party formed by chance in book one now regularly undertake missions together for the New Republic. Nora Wexley leads the team made up of her son Temmin, ex-imperial torturer Sinjir Rath Velus, bounty hunter Jas Emari, and a new character, New Republic soldier Jom Barell. They go on a mission to find the missing Hab Solo and instead end up liberating a secret prison full of Resistance/New Republic captives.
Meanwhile, Rae Sloane is leader of the imperial forces only in name as she is being manipulated by her mysterious advisor Gallius Rax, who has a very different vision for the future of the empire than she does.

I am such a fan of many of the Character's in this series and am always pleasantly surprised with Wendig's writing style. I have to admit that if the story was in a completely new galaxy, and not the Star Wars universe which I am so familiar with then I would have found this book a little different. While there is a lot of descriptions for characters and settings, the only true world building came towards the end of the book on Kashyyyk. When looking at this book's position in the series I am a little confused on how it transitioned from Aftermath to Life Debt.

The present tense style still isn't working. The characters are only slightly more interesting (or better, less uninteresting) than the first book in this series. Honestly, the first half of this book could have been removed without affecting the narrative.
Too few nuggets in a post ROTJ world buried under uninteresting characters and hard-to-enjoy writing style.
