Enjoyed this much more than the first Aftermath book.
Liked Sinjir a lot.

I finished this up while in the doctor's office, which is to say that I finished the last 100 or so pages in one sitting. I'm reading these books so I can get more information to fill in gaps from the movies. I read the first one slowly trying to get to know the characters and see if I could tie any details back to the Force Awakens. This time I tried to read slowly but there wasn't much point in doing so. The characters are firmly established already and I felt like I was being beaten over the head with their internal dialogue. I get it, you don't know if you are happy with the danger you put your son in. I get it you aren't sure if you are all about the money or actually care for these people. Let the characters actions speak, we can tell what their motivations are, don't constantly spell it out.
Allrighty, that rant is out of the way, now, the plot. I expected Han and Chewie fighting their way around the wookie homeworld but nope, this is about our previous cast of characters, love them or don't really care about them. There isn't much new going on with Leia and the good guys, there's a new bad guy to learn a little about, and there is our crew going on a mission or two. That's it, really. It's...ok. I'll keep reading to fill in details from the movies and because it's Star Wars of course, but this seemed like a step backwards. Han seemed more dumb than reckless, Leia more pissy than strong and intelligent, and all our main characters somewhat cardboard like.

This book is not what I would call good. It does read quickly, at least. I just want to know what happens between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, but I wish they used the old Thrawn trilogy to fill in the gap instead, those books are much better.
My review here isn't too different from that of Aftermath. Maybe I'm a little more invested in the new characters because they've been with me for a whole other book, but I don't care that much more. The familiar favorite characters showed up a little more here, but their relationships are developing in a strange way, which doesn't really account for the strangeness at the beginning of The Force Awakens. Also, I will complain again that it doesn't make sense to dissolve the "Legends" era books if the same stories are going to be recreated. This is especially true of Wedge's plot which is insanely similar to the X-Wing, but it lacks the fun and action of Stackpole's writings. I found myself disappointed and only reluctantly returning to the book and just to finish, rather than enjoy, it when I did.
Another great installment in the trilogy detailing what happens after the original three movies (in this Disney universe, at least).
Wendig bring a lot of humor, action, and great character moments, just like in the original movies. This book is improved over the first by characters from the movies making an appearance, but the new cast of characters are the ones who take the show. Looking forward to the third one!

I loved this one even more than the first! Lots of story with Han Solo and Chewie, and putting together a lot of awesome storyline pieces between Return of the Jedi and Force Awakens. Great characters, excellent pacing and chapter bouncing between stories. Lots more Mr. Bones! Really liked it, and can't wait to finish the trilogy.
Not the most sophisticated review, but can I please get another book not on the whole crew, but instead full of stories about Sinjir and Jas? They are great together.
Enjoyed the further adventures of Norra and the rest of the 'rag tag' crew. Improves on the first book in the 'Aftermath' trilogy, as it's nothing to do with hokey religions, the characters that appear from the films aren't really the lead characters of the story, although they definitely have a strong presence (good to see a character that was in the Star Wars comics too), but once we've been reintroduced to Norra, Temmin, Jas and the rest of the gang again, we dive straight into the story. Granted it takes a while to get to the main plot, but once it does its a thrilling ride to the finish. And by the end I want to know what happens next for the crew and for the Empire. The interludes dotted throughout are a bit better this time, especially a couple of them that turn out to be quite relevant to the main story. The seeds are definitely being sown for the First Order, much like 'Bloodline' did. Overall a decent read if you're a fan of Star Wars Saga.
The second book in the Aftermath trilogy features more appearances by characters from the original movies. I'm not sure if this was always planned, or if it was done in response to fan complaints about the first book, but I was a little disappointed. I really enjoyed the focus on the new characters in Aftermath. Fortunately, those characters are still the main characters of this volume, they just have to share the spotlight more with Leia, Han and Chewbacca.
While the first book served mainly to introduce the new characters, this second volume starts to fulfill the promise made to bridge the gap between Episodes VI and VII. We're starting to see the seeds of the Resistance and the New Order.
I'm looking forward to the final volume.
