This started out as a 3 then at the 70% mark kinda fell flat for me. I never felt Stiles and Derek connect, and the writing style focused too much on arbitrary things. That being said its not bad just did not work for me.

This was quite the sedate and very, very contemplative Sterek.
Told from Derek's POV, as always, he's with his usual self loathing, his usual fear of loving again. Though this starts out with him simply being intrigued by Stiles's art, he can't help but be slowly won over by his boundless energy and inability to be put off by Derek's surly disposition.
Derek is often his own worst enemy, stymied by insecurity, worried he will never measure up. You really see how much he wants to express himself but just can't. And of course, Stiles handles him expertly, always intuitively, with great panache and never pushing too much despite his own hurt feelings.
I was touched, I laughed out loud, and then I swooned - because it's them and I marvel at seeing these two in different scenarios but never losing their sense of self - the author remained true to that in this human AU.
Again, very slow and contemplative, but the sedateness works. Surprisingly angsty and pleasingly sexy.

initially nice, it eventually became ponderous, off-putting, very strange, and comically misinformed.
