I loved this book. I love the way Liane Moriarty writes inner monologues. I loved the way it looked at how much people change through adulthood. I marked it as inspiring because it made me feel differently about the way I want to pursue my adult years. Alice putting her all into being the best mother she could be for the school took away the fun parts of her. It's important to remember to be fun. Elisabeth's story of infertility was weaved in seamlessly adding such beautiful depth to the story. I read it fast because it kept me hooked the whole time.

So why this isn’t a 5 - in all honesty I think this book is a 3.8 for me but I wanted to round up. I didn’t really enjoy the sister’s POV (on top of just not liking her much, I found it hard to distinguish when she finished talking and Alice began, at least in an ebook). The ending also wasn’t my favorite but only because I didn’t like the love interest Alice ended up with in the end, and I kind of wish it had been different because it felt a bit rushed.

But, the book is still enjoyable and I think even if that specific part of the ending isn’t my cup of tea, the book was still so good that I’d still recommend it. Alice was a great character and I felt for her, and I just didn’t ever want to put this book down.

Oh come on!
We spend the entire book bored and annoyed by Old Alice yet hoping she can pull her life back together. Then in the blink of an eye New Alice comes back and everything we have been invested in is flipped? I mean, I hung in there through the boring parts and the annoying parts, the crappy way the book transitions, repeatedly, at the worst possible moments, to other people's letters and journaling. She kinda redeems the book with the epilogue but overall it's a Hallmark story with a weird, awkward ending. Like "plot twist"! Oh no wait, that's an obviously crappy twist, "plot twist again!"
