I enjoyed this a little bit. But honestly my interest in this book was on and off. I had trouble wanting to get back to reading this book. I really only finished this because it's a part of a series and I'm excited for the third book, so I wanted to read the first two books first even though they can all be read as standalones.

The last 30% was honestly the best and most interesting part of this book. So much so that I almost rated this higher, but I knew if I rated this higher it wouldn't be true to my feelings on the rest of the book.

There are amazing and sweet moments spread throughout. I thought Jax was very sweet and he really showed how much he cares for and loves Sid. Honestly Sidney's character was the more annoying and frustrating character. I understand her fears and insecurities surrounding hockey players. But I felt like she never gave Jax a true chance until the end no matter what he did for her.

So this book may have had some really sweet moments but it was an overall very difficult book to get through for me. And the sexual scenes didn't do anything for me, I honestly skipped over all of them but one, maybe two of them. They're really not all that necessary to the story. I will most likely never recommend this book. I may even forget about it at some point.

With that being said I'm excited to read Lucas and Piper's story next. And then finally get to Mia, River, and Alex's story, which is the story I'm most excited for.

One of the better hockey romances that I’ve read on KU. The story was funny and heart melting. There was some good tension between Jax and Sidney. I loved the banter and the way Jax treated Sid (like she deserved). I wish the reason for the third act was brought up sooner BUT the end was adorable and had me swooning!!

I am a sucker for the tropes in this book and the characters actually have depth.
I would have loved to have the side characters more involved in the story as in her friends and their parents(for a little found family happiness) but other than that I am completely content with this emotional and authentic love story mixed with spice.

Spice (quantity and quality):
4.5/5
There is more plot than smutty scenes but they are really good.

I adored this book and I wish I could experience the love between Jax and Sidney for the very first time. Although romance books often try to give the impression of real life choices that their characters have to face, I feel like Jessa did a fanatics job showing us the choices that Jax and Sidney made for themselves and for each other.
Young adults in college have dreams and they want to achieve them! So many college sports romance books suffer the "I bet they broke up after the book ended". But these two? Never. They're the real deal. They love each other, but they love themselves. They're striving for their dreams and they don't want the other one to resent them for letting go of a dream.
Please read this book for the romance and the spice and the love between Jax and Sidney. But please also look at two determined college students who work every day for their success.

"Whether it's a lifetime or a moment, not a second of what's between us could ever be a mistake. Love is moment to moment. It's not dependent on how much longer you're together, and I fucking love you. It's going to hurt like hell, but it'll have been worth it"
