Thoroughly engrossing thriller. I was unfamiliar with the Magdalene Laundries and this story weaves a tale around the real tragedies and hardships that went on in them. I liked the normal-ness of the main detective in contrast to the brutality of the crime he is investigating. Great narration by Aoife McMahon

I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The storyline and cahracters kept me relly invested. How the story was told in general was very intriguing as well. The narration was also very well done. I was kept guessing up until the very end. Also all od the little detials that you pick up on as a reader were addressed throughout the book which I think is rarely done.

What an excellent story. The characters are rich. The scenery contributes, the weather a strong element and even a backhanded homage to Agatha Christy.
This story is painful as it shines a light on the horrific abuse of girls and young women at the Magdalene laundries in Ireland. It’s one of those books you can’t shake the horrifying events as fiction.
The personal side stories tie up and just as you think you got the murderer, you don’t ...
The audiobook narrator was good.
One interesting and thought provoking point one of the characters makes- is that today’s abused group is immigrant children. Like the atrocious child separation at the US southern border, when they can’t account for hundreds of kids. We ask how could all those people looked the other way in Ireland, while we as a society do the same today.

I couldn’t put the book down for the first 400 pages. After that it just dragged and I was looking forward to finishing it
