This is a revenge story. There are definite comparisons to be made with a certain book named after a carrion bird, but La Muerta does have its own uniqueness and flavor to it. Overall, I did enjoy this first read, but I feel the story could have been slowed down dramatically to show the protagonist’s struggle and transformation to recover from her injuries as well as reconditioning after being in a coma for several months, and becoming a vengeance machine.
