Better than In The Woods imo, Cassie is very likable as a character, the mystery is tense and thrilling (it seemed like i couldnt read fast enough during some scenes) and there was a nice conclusion.

The first book is a high standard to match, but this does it. Strong character work and a decently compelling plot considering the action takes place in the same place for the most part. It’s the maturity and complexity of French’s work that always impresses me. I’m going to finish another book allegedly for adults by the end of the night and doing so makes the strength of her work stand out even more. Like this is genre fiction, but it can border on literary.

Okay, there is slow-paced and then there is this book. The last three hours were really difficult to get through.  Nevermind the huge suspension of disbelief with the whole look-alike storyline.

Still, I liked the idea and the emotional engagement the story provides.

This was the second time the author pulled the 'well I guess this person is just a psychopath' card. That was kind of lazy. And the murderer... it was the gay guy because the other guy was bi and he was jealous but it was just alluded to and never discussed? Sigh.
