This book features probably the horniest main characters imaginable. I didn’t realize going into it how much of the book would be dedicated to smut or the characters thinking about sex. Unfortunately I was interested enough in the world and plot to keep reading but every time it was getting interesting the author would stop the plot to have a sex scene. I think I’m just not the target audience as I don’t really care about romance books and I thought this would be more traditional fantasy. I do have to hand it to the author for making the female love interest 26 instead of the typical 17-21 age range that a lot of books follow and for not making the guy a complete nightmare. It felt similar to many of Sarah j mass’s characters were you have a woman who is so badass and “not like other girls” cause she can use a knife, and a man who *Respects Woman* (and by that I mean he says he does but a lot of his actions are the exact opposite). There was a big disconnect between what we were told about characters vs their actual actions. At least he’s not a Colleen Hoover man.

Also the plot was insanely predictable so by the time you get to the big reveal it isn’t even interesting or surprising.

I was so entertained throughout this entire book, it gets 4 stars.

I’ll admit, it could be better written: a bit more organised in terms of plot and the world building could’ve been better developed.

Buuut, that being said, I don’t think it’s the main focus of this book. The romance is. And if there’s one thing this author is quite good at, is hooking you with the romance (and smut). I loved the couple and kept craving more from them, more conversations to figure them out, and see more of their banter. Plus, there was a very interesting storyline (never a dull moment) and the plot was good as well.

I’ll be devouring the next book as well because I’m a romance addict, and i decided it will be my next fix 🤷‍♀️

If "I'm not like other girls" was a book.
