Short and sweet. I love them so much. Actually burst out laughing at Liv’s impressive dribbling.

My Thoughts On: The Avant-Guards #3

1. Liv being extra enough to use the Chicago Bulls music and have an elaborate entrance to the first day of practice feels very in character for her. Also, her teammates' various reactions to this says everything I think that needs to be said about them.

2. Have we established how Ash got injured? I'm genuinely asking because I'm forgetful and they could have said it before.

3. God, this first day of basketball practice is so relatable. I have been on teams where I was one of two or three people who have actually played basketball before, and what an experience that was. Also, Nicole, you cannot play basketball in combat boots. If you twist your ankle in those, you're done.

4. BASKETBALL CONTENT! THEY'RE PRACTICING! THEY'RE PLAYING BASKETBALL! MY DREAMS HAVE COME TRUE!

5. Charlie's backstory kind of broke me. As someone with bad anxiety, I understand how suffocating it can make you and how it forces you to give up things you love doing. Thank you, Cary Usdin, for tying why Charlie has stopped playing basketball to having too much anxiety tied to it. Also, I'm proud of Charlie for getting back into the game!

6. Ah, a rec center gym. I know them well. However, we never had adorable dogs at mine. I love the addition of adorable dogs.

7. YAY, FIRST GAME BETWEEN TWO NEW TEAMS IN A NEW LEAGUE! DON'T MIND ME SOBBING OVER HERE BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH MEDIA REPRESENTING GIRLS PLAYING BASKETBALL. I'M FINE.

8. "Wait... are we.... Are we good? I was honestly not expecting that" is a phrase I am sure my dad, who coached many of my basketball teams as a kid, uttered more than once.

9. This is the correct reaction to the other team being friendly: "Wow, this team is really friendly." "Too friendly. What's their angle?" "They might just be... nice?" "No, that can't be it."

10. I really love this issue, but particularly I love the action scenes of them playing basketball. They feel both written and drawn by people who have played basketball or know basketball, which makes them feel real and authentic. If you can't tell, I'm living for this basketball content.
