Don’t trust booktok on this one.

Really fun re entry into romantasy

Such a fun read but the way I took off a star for the nickname fucking bird?!? It pulled me out of the story so much lol it was awful

A Dawn of Onyx is book 1 in The Sacred Stones trilogy. This is a romantic fantasy that gives ACOTAR vibes but is not quite so complex – less backstory and world-building. We follow our girl Arwen Valondale after she is taken prisoner by an enemy kingdom. Nothing is quite as it seems and Arwen is slowly learning there is more out in the world then what she was told in her small village. There’s magic, beasts, secrets, evil kings, and forbidden forests! But don’t let this crazy map fool you because I gave this one 4 stars. I felt that the stakes were not really that high and that some of the plot twists at the end were random. I want to see more character development and world-building in the next book! For now I think my interest is peaked enough to continue the series and I’ll be sure to give you my full thoughts when I’m done.

Book 2: A Promise of Peridot
Book 3: A Reign of Rose (Oct. 2024)

the character and location names are reminiscent of the names I used in my wattpad fan-fiction that I wrote when I was 13.

The first in what looks to be a good series. I would recommend it for those who enjoyed ACOTR and The Fourth Wing.

Wow, wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did but Kate Golden delivers everything you could want in this Romantasy! Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, secret identities and slow burns. I adored the sassy banter between Arwen and Kane . I’m sprinting to book 2!
