Surprisingly developed for a book as short as it is- a little hard to get into a first, but I got invested after the first hurdle

I had difficulty predicting where this was going nine times out of ten, which surprised me. The scope of Ratha's character arc is immense. Loved the author's prose, and how unrelentingly harsh many of the decisions Ratha faces are. Her hot-headedness is portrayed as both a blessing and a curse. I'm definitely interested in picking up the rest of the series at some point.

i've been slacking on reviews lets go

ok i have been putting off this book 5ever but i regret it?? its so good
like
its about cats right but its still pretty mature
like the writing is just really interesting
cause they are still very animalistic like going into heat and fearing certain things
the books do such an amazing job at not erasing their animal side while still giving them human qualities
and the descriptions of herding aren't completely weird its like ok this is not an insane thought
and the characters aH
i think the series as a whole is best for this bc holy fuck development
ratha especially
thakur is my fave tho
ugh like honestly its rlly good, even if 'animal books' arent your thing

I read this book after reading online that it was like Warriors (the popular cat books), but much more mature. Ratha's Creature is a shocking book. Shockingly good, well-written, great characters, and a truly exciting and heartbreaking story. I'm surprised it's meant to be a children's book, as there are definitely scenes I would not feel good about a kid reading, but at least the book seems very realistic. This is the exact kind of animal-based story that I wish there were more of.

This one was real weird!!! In my quest to read every cat xenofiction I’d put it above warrior cats but not nearly as good as Varjak Paw. It was a three star until the sex scene I feel like nobody needed that
