A solid 3.4*! I thought I was done with the series, however, reading Douglas Preston’s nonfiction book “the lost tomb” a few weeks ago inspired me to return. Essentially, Preston takes some real-life mystery and then throws some science and storytelling on it. Knowing this makes me enjoy this series more.
In this case we get the Roswell crash. A very Musk-like billionaire has gotten permission to excavate the crash site and has decided that Nora should investigate. She sees that there is a grave nearby and wants to ascertain that it’s not an old Indian burial. The bodies are strange - without faces or fingerprints- and the FBI with Corrie heading the investigation comes to site. It seems there is more than one mystery.
This was the usual fun blend of science, procedural and mystery. Totally over the top and just what I wanted from it.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am a huge Lincoln/Child fan and was very excited to get this ARC. Readers unfamiliar with either series should note that Nora and Corrie are characters that originally appeared in the Pendergast books and now have their own spin-off series- it's more of Nora's series, but Corrie has a solid part. I enjoyed the two earlier books in the Nora Kelly series, but this one was definitely my favorite. It can be read as a standalone if you don't mind the spoliers of the other series books.
Nora, an archeologist, takes on a dig at Roswell. The benefactor/organizer of the dig, Lucas Tappan, wants to prove once and for all that there was a UFO crash and a government coverup. The story is jam packed with mystery and intrigue featuring our favorites: Nora, Corrie, Watts, and Skip (and introducing Tappan!). I was a HUGE X-Files fan back in the 90s/00s, so this book was right up my alley. Highly recommend.

content warnings: violence, murder, gore (not super descriptive), two fade-to-black sex scenes
Roswell? You're only on the... what is this, the third book of the Nora Kelly series?... and you're going to aliens? With an Elon Musk character thrown in for good measure? I have given up on the Prendergast books because they got so ridiculous. Looks like it's time to hang it up on Nora Kelly too.
Um, Roswell, not so much my thing. Fast-paced, still love the characters, a little too much government cover-up storyline for me. I liked the first two better. Looking forward to the next Pendergast.
This book reminded me in some ways of a James Rollins book in the way it has a cast of characters that the story jumps back and forth until they all end up in the final show down. Has a great sci-fi story and a great mystery running through it but this doesn’t surprise me with these two authors. A great vacation read I would say . And I give it 5 stars. And hopefully there will be more books in this series
