Whilst I did enjoy this one and it obviously establishes more of the world building, it did feels that for the first 70% of the book we didn’t really do anything other than countdown to the wedding and lots of talking politics. In the last 20%, we see most of the political happenings come to fruition with a little action scene. Knowing that this is at least a set of four books hopefully it means we’ll see more happening in the sequel. I read the first two books very quickly but I found that it took me ages to get through this one. Too much talking and not enough showing.
To be fair, we are following Kianthe and Reyna who for all of this book don’t move from Tawney but it would have been nice to see Serina, Bobbie, Tessalyn and Dreggs POV.
We still see found family and cosy vibes with the tea shop, greenhouses, libraries and game night.
Good continuation but pretty mid for me.
