Love this gay series but if the narrator gives the same laugh in the next one I’m going to lose it

What to say about the third volume in Rebecca Thorne’s Tomes & Tea series? Once more, I am going to fall back on my own words of “a lighthearted non-challenging book that is akin to a sorbet palate cleanser for the mind.”
As with the first two books, “Tea You at the Altar” is a cozy fantasy sapphic romance during which my mind switched to the off position. There is, as always with these books, quite a bit going on but everything is built around the heart of the story, the relationship between the two FMCs, Reyna and Kianthe, and is, above all, very lighthearted but also touching.
In this volume’s adventure, we find our heroines preparing for their wedding while trying to juggle hosting duties to a wide range of people from their adopted town and abroad including family. As always, there is a feel of the familiar as we get to see what is happening with secondary characters introduced in previous tales. Add to all this visiting family, griffins and baby dragons, a murder mystery and political machinations and you get the very appropriately named new story.
Despite the fact that the world and many of its characters are so familiar, it still takes about one hundred pages to settle in to the book, but once it gets going, it is a pleasant diversion that will distract you from the real world for a few hours (which these days is desperately needed). As always, the combination of romance with shared adventures that are generously peppered with cringe-worthy puns and relationship advice will do the trick, especially if you are a cozy fantasy reader.
Despite the fact that these are not my favourite books, I still keep coming back to them which speaks volumes in itself. It also doesn’t hurt that this one ended with a twist and cliffhanger (I’m still trying to figure out what is steering me to one cliffhanger book after another…) so I am looking forward to seeing how Thorne wraps up the series with the next and final book. Plus, I couldn’t resist treating myself to a copy of the sprayed edge special edition from #Waterstones - I am a book dragon, after all…
