It was summer 2020 and I was still working in retail. I finished a shift and immediately went to my favourite cafe. I got an iced coffee and banana bread and settled in to read. I'd intended to only be there for a little while but I just couldn't put the book down.
Back then it was exactly what I needed. It gave me hope for finding love and for a future I'd never really allowed myself to imagine.
With just one read it became my favourite book of all time.
So, when I was looking for something to read this week and my fiancé suggested I re-read Conventionally Yours, I knew it was the right choice.
I've always related to Conrad and his story. This time more so than ever. I left this story with a new sense of hope this time around. That I do have the power to succeed. All I need is one more move.
This book is still my favourite book of all time. I cannot recommend it enough!! <3

It was nice to see their personal problems getting sort of resolved and that both of their problems mattered on the same level (cause sometimes one is more the focus). It’s also great to see in a book that characters are mature and will talk to each other when they have a problem or something needing to be said. And the end was great, I’m happy (and obviously not surprised) that Conrad and Alden living happily in love.
However I found the love story a little fast paced ? Or maybe I just needed everything to be more profound (even if delved into their lives and problems). Cause even thought their relationship and the way they love each other was really cute, I was surprised at how fast they made a love confession or even acted like they couldn’t survive without the other ?
I was caught in between being happy and disappointed that there was no barrier to keep them apart, I guess I was waiting for angst that I didn’t find.
Also needed more about Conrad and his family, maybe an interaction face to face (which I was waiting), even with Cassie, a little positivity in his life that isn’t Alden.
