📍Roadtrip
💕 Found Family
👍 Rivals to Lovers

Conrad and Alden have such a good rivals to lovers relationship.  They both play the card game Odyssey and have the opportunity to play in tournaments, something that is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of trip.  If they win it would help solve some of the problems in their lives.

The queer rep in this book was so nicely written, I loved how it was all normalized, and how there were so many queer characters.  The found family was everything.  And I have to mention how much I loved all the artwork throughout this book!

I love how well the characters worked together how the rivals became friends and then boyfriends.  The grumpy x sunshine trope fit their personalities so well.

This was a delightful read!
I was looking for some escape with this read and I really loved diving into Conrad and Alden’s world.
The slow burn was superb and the pacing and tension was just right. Often with road trip stories, it seems to rush in the middle to get to the climax but this took it’s time and built masterfully.
I definitely will be rereading this again. It was a joy.

A very fun story! As someone who knows people who are into similar card games like Magic the Gathering and who have gone to various conventions, it was neat to see that explored.

Love love loved this book and its love story. The writing kept me interested throughout and I was thoroughly invested in both Alden and Conrad’s lives/characters. There was so much sexual tension and the resolution of it was not cringey at all, which some books like this struggle with once they finally get together. I LOVED the drawings periodically throughout the story, it really helped me to create what the two lovebirds looked like in my head. Also, the actual game that they played was so well explained that I kinda wanna play it now and I am def not a cards gamer 😋
