Sebastian handles the subject of sexual abuse and trauma much more deftly than I ever expected a romance novelist to. Kudos!

I read the first and third of this series before this one, so it was so nice to get an insight into Hartley and his life. I liked Sam, and I liked all of the side characters as well. I thought Sebastian did a decent job of handling an interracial gay relationship in the nineteenth century but in the end it still felt a bit fantastical simply due to the time period.

Same as in Ben's book (the first in the series), I thought the characters moved to quickly in their relationship; I personally don't like books where they say I love you after a month of knowing each other.

Cat Sebastian is a genuis and this is another masterpiece. I absolutely adored every single character (but mostly Sam). Just amazing.

I liked this story even better than the first Seducing the Sedgwicks novel. It was better written and paced than the first one in my opinion. I loved the depth of both of the main characters and getting to read how they fell in love. I honestly thought their relationship was super beautiful and cute plus their sex scenes were so sexy and full of emotion.

I’m not surprised that I ended up enjoying this instalment in Seducing the Sedgwicks. This series is quickly becoming a comfort read of mine. I really appreciated that in this one, Sebastian didn’t shy away from the trauma and racism that the two main characters experienced. Also, ALL the characters felt wonderfully real. I particularly loved the sibling relationship between Hartley and Will. Finally, there was more of a plot in this book than in It Takes Two To Tumble, which I liked. My one criticism is that Sam deserved more of a character arc.

It all starts with the search for a missing nudie painting . . .

This was such a warm, sweet and gentle romance. There’s a little miscommunication and struggling of the feelings and getting over past hurts but nothing overly angsty and overly complicated. Thank the loard because I didn’t want any of those things when I picked this up after having just finished a grueling read. There’s a little mystery of the paintings which fizzles a bit but that didn’t bother me at all. This story was just right for me at this point in time.
