This is going to be another hard review for me because I really did enjoy the story that Holcomb gives her readers in DEALER'S CHOICE, but as with many quick reads that I enjoy I ended up wanting more from these characters. This is not to say that this an incomplete story, because that is definitely not the case. Holcomb gives a complete story that answers everything that is needed for a satisfying ending. Yet, I liked both Pace and Jay enough that I would have loved to have had more background on both of them. Jay has a very interesting upbringing and past that is partially revealed, and would have made for a really good storyline in itself. I won't say what it is that makes him a colorful character since it would ruin a small plot twist.
Pace is also an interesting character. She's the child of wealthy parents who want their children to make it on their own after providing them with excellent educations. Although Pace does use her education to make money, she also chooses to branch out and help women who need a hand up in order to pursue their dreams. Pace uses her privilege and opportunity to help give opportunity to other women. I LOVE that.
There is a short history between Pace and Jay, so it's not completely insta love between them, and there is a negotiation that brings them together. The mystery with Pace's brother is wrapped up quickly and it would've been nice if that had played out in more detail. See? This is why shorter reads are hard for me if I like them. I'm a greedy, greedy reader! However, if you are looking for a story that will keep you entertained for an hour or two, DEALER'S CHOICE is a good deal. See what I did there?
