Now THIS is what I wanted from this series. In the other books, once the characters got together, it felt like their entire story from there on was just them getting intimate. In this book, however, the plot still felt present.

This one follows Cole and Ginger, who have known each other since childhood, and Ginger is his sister, Cece’s, best friend. The two of them have a secret friendship (think Hothouse Flower vibes), but they’ve always pined for the other behind closed doors.

Cole is a fantastic father and an even better partner, if that’s possible. Ginger is a spitfire who has no problem saying what she believes, when it comes to anyone other than her father.

This book has so much angst and tension, and when it finally comes to a head

I adore this series.. I can’t wait for the next book and I sure hope that Olivia is getting a book at some point .

My ONLY complaint is in audio, I loved the way Ginger was voiced through Ivy’s book, there was an amazing twang to the way she played her. That sound was missed in Olivia’s book ( think Billie on her first horse jumping with the matching boots with Ginger)

This is book 3 in the series and between Cole (the seemingly grumpy by the book sheriff) and Ginger (the free spirited sister’s best friend).
After reading their banter for the past two books we finally have Cole and Gingers book. After waking up in Vegas with rings on their fingers they need a plan. Both have too much to loose for a ‘drunken mistake’ to become public in their small town. And so a plan it hatched.

The added bonus of this story is definitely Mabel, she is adorable and so funny. I love how she added to story and the relationship between her and Ginger was so sweet. Plus she really showed Coles cinnamon roll side.

I was so excited for this book to be released and it did not disappoint. The relationship development is everything and spice deliciously perfect.

I hate when authors write a series of interconnected standalones only to make the couples sound exactly the same from book to book.

Like if you're gonna write the SAME THING 4 different times, just do it, don't change the names and try to pawn it off as a totally different story.

The smut in this one is so diabolically similar to Wade and Ivy it had me rolling my eyes.

The same "it's too big" convo, the same hand on the throat, the same biting pain/pleasure stuff going on, the same "sassy girl getting the sass fucked out of her" narrative, the same "mine" speech. The brothers are, apparently, identical fuckers. And I guess the girls are also identical in what they enjoy in the bedroom - even though when they were just side characters they had very different personalities.

THEN, other things started sounding the same, too. The horseback rides, the dates, the flirty texts, the time the FMC meets the MMC's ex at the salon and ends up doubting the relationship because the ex is a raging C U Next Tuesday.

Sigh.

It sucks because it started out SO GOOD. Cole and Ginger's secret friendship was EVERYTHING. The trip to Vegas a was a good (if cliche) set up. I wasn't even MAD we didn't get the graphic details of their drunken night consummating their marriage.

But sure enough, 50% of the way through, they literally, literally turn into Ivy and Wade in the bedroom. If you took the names out, and read the sex scenes back to back, you wouldn't be able to tell who was who. It's THAT regurgitative.

The sexual side of their relationship almost - almost ruined this book for me. If it had been a slow burn, if they'd spent the entire 90 days of their fake marriage pining and longing for each other instead of giving in only a few weeks in, it could have been top tier.

The ex drama also bugged me because it's SO SIMILAR to Wade/Ivy, but it also makes sense in the context of the story - so I'm frustrated, but I understand why it's there. I just friggin' wish the confrontation between Gemma and Ginger had happened somewhere else but the salon. Did it have to be a 100% identical copy of Ivy's situation??????

To be honest, by book 3, the exes being shitbags subplot was kind of getting old and repetitive anyway.

Alas.

Cole and Ginger were the couple I was looking forward to from the first book in this series. Their obvious banter in Cece and Nash's story had me salivating for their turn. But it's just Wade and Ivy's story in another font.

The stuff with Mable is the best part of this book. The way Cole acts with his daughter is utterly precious. And the way Ginger is SO good with her - ugh - cuteness overload. Children aren't my thing - I don't LOVE the single-parent trope, but sometimes the kid is what makes the story worthwhile, and this is the case with Mable.

The other drama surrounding their marriage and the secret getting out - the way Cole's deputy tries to ruin him with it - this was good drama. Solid unique to Cole and Ginger plot development. I'm actually a little sad it wasn't more involved.

Don't get me wrong - there are some sweet, tender, wholesome moments in here. You might just have to dig through 34 chapters of smut that was copy/pasted from book 2 to find them. Meh - I'm so disappointed.

He’s a single dad sheriff. She’s a congressman’s daughter with a wild streak. One drunken truth-or-dare game in Vegas and now they’re hitched—with everything to lose if anyone finds out. But pretending never felt this real.

What I Loved:
🌟 Ginger and Cole’s years of secret friendship turning into swoony love
🌟 The handcuff scene (HELLOOOOO)
🌟 Ginger’s bond with Mabel—pure, soft, and healing
🌟 No third-act breakup and top-tier communication!
🌟 The playful banter, flanter, and chaotic chemistry
🌟 Cole’s sweet gestures (flowers in Mabel’s room? the G tattoo?? 🥹)
🌟 That mix of heartfelt moments + filthy mouths = PERFECTION

Favorite Scene:
The truth-or-dare wedding night in Vegas followed by their “nanny summer”—the tension, the jealousy, the rules… and how beautifully they broke them. Also, shoutout to Chapter 46 🔥

Favorite Moments:
🌟 The chaotic suitcase prank
🌟 Ginger corrupting Mabel with her team colors 😂
🌟 The joint Vegas bachelor/bachelorette party
🌟 Cole saying “my wife” every chance he gets
🌟 That boat scene (yep, that one)
🌟 Ginger’s lasagna and the way it made her feel like home
🌟 Cole comforting Mabel with flowers when she’s gone

Why It’s 5 Stars:
It’s got everything I want in a small-town romance: best friend’s brother, secret marriage, a reformed playboy with a heart of gold, and a heroine who finds herself while helping raise a little girl who adores her. Plus, the spice? Paisley wrote that like her life depended on it. Law Daddy Cole Ashby owns me now.

Final Thoughts:
I kicked my feet, screamed, blushed, and smiled the whole way through. This book was like riding a rom-com high with a cherry on top. Paisley Hope, thank you for giving us this love story. I’m not okay, and I don’t want to be.
