Actually a 2.75 rating. My second read novel by this Author. Exquisite prose, as always. Main character completely unlikable, annoyingly so. Author drew many details from her own life, which is admirable but not my cuppa. Creepy factor resonates strongly throughout the book but with no substantial resolution. Author is a niche treasure but the back cover blurbs are killing me... they promise hard plot the novels never deliver.

Mein erster Roman von Kiernan. Erschien mir etwas zu lang für das Thema, wirkte wie eine Lovecraft-Geschichte, die um jede Menge Selbstgespräch erweitert wurde. Nicht immer zum Vorteil der Spannung. Ingesamt etwas unbefriedigend.

This was both entertaining and creepy. I honestly was totally creeped out when I finished it. It's got a bit of an Edgar Allan Poe thing to it. Quite lovely in it's super creepy way. Not as psychedelic or fantastical as her other novels, but instead it had some nice foreboding and some serious creepy-causing moments. I was on edge when I finished it and ended up being scared to death by both my mom and dad while they went about their usual going-to-bed routine.

I love Caitlin r kiernan!! This book sucks you in and makes you feel the paranoia of the main character. I could hear the birds, smell the woods and feel the doom.

I’ll read anything Caitlin r kiernan writes

Manages to walk that fine edge of high strangeness and believability throughout without ever fully revealing what is really going on behind the scenes. Awful teenage angsty cover belies this wonderfully creepy adult horror novel.

Dirty book!! Sorry I couldn't finish it. The summary hooked me but the language was terrible.
