Learn My Lesson

Katee Robert

3.62 AVERAGE

I haven’t read much for Katee Robert (~ 7 books I think?) but I’ve read enough to know what I don’t and do like in her works. So imagine my shock when I gave one of their books 5 stars😅 (especially because the first book in this series I was more lukewarm too).

I loved the throuple’s dynamic and the plot and how they communicated with each other. Hades and Meg being a couple for a decade but losing their stride before Hercules enters the picture and makes them feel complete again. I loved every second of it❤️
(only disappointed that Hades’ wife and son weren’t named after Persephone and Zagerus but all the Greek Gods’ names are presented as covers in this series so I’ll let it slide😅)

Everything in this book just clicked and ticked off all my boxes🥰

The Dark Olympus series was my first foray into Katee Robert’s writing, so even though these books came earlier in publication order, I had never given them a go.  But wow.  Did I love Learn My Lesson.

Ok, let’s start off with plotting.  Had I read other books in this series? No.  Did it hinder my reading experience? Also no.  Am I going to go out and back read them all? You bet.  The story was easy to follow and engaging right from the beginning.  Obviously, this is a smut heavy book that dominates the plot, but it wasn’t at the expense of the overall plot or the characters.

Speaking of characters, Hercules.  Damn.  What a wonder, the big blob of himbo with a saviour complex was so fun to read from the perspective of.  But as a Dark Olympus reader, his perspective was also bittersweet, I don’t think the big sweet boy realises how much his sisters think of him and that they miss him.  Meg, delicious, strong, empowering Meg.  I was obsessed with her.  I love that even though Hades was the authorative figure in all of this, she had agency.  And Hades, what a great character, his dubious moral compass was incredibly well written and the dynamics of the three together worked well.  They all contrasted and complimented each other beautifully.

The fact that this version came with annotations from Katee Robert elevated the reading experience, and, as someone who has been following them for years now, I absolutely could hear their voice cutting into the story to further elaborate.

Thank you to Netgalley, Katee Robert and publishers, who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.  These thoughts are all my own.

Round up the rating strictly for the smut. This has Meg, Hercules, and Hades my three favorites of all time. These series really should be read in order if you want to follow along with the larger storyline. If you just want a quick spicy MFM romance Katee's books are fun for that. Better than The Sea Witch, but still just so-so. Read it in a few hours if that is any indication on the pacing.

This felt more akin to Sierra Simone in terms of erotica versus romance. While there is somewhat of a plot, that is not the point of the story by any means. It feels FF-esque and kinda abruptly ends? I'll say I do love himbo Hercules though.

I don't think I'll be reading any more of the villain stories (this is my first and last), but I will absolutely continue with Katee Robert's Dark Olympus series. Robert is a great writer, I just wanted more romance/plot than flat out erotica. Maybe if I read it at a different time I'd rate it higher.

I'm really enjoying this author, the knowledge in the BDSM community & proper & safe workings of it. I loved the 3 MCs in this, though at times I was just as frustrated as Meg was with Hades & his lack of communication. However I love how it played out, was acknowledged & he truly was trying to correct it, even if in an unconventional way. 🥹🫶🖤  It's a great quick read & the spice was 😘🤌🏻🥵 As always definitely check your TWs with this one. It's fast paced, definitely geared towards the spice but the plot & story have decent depth & lack very little.

yay so fun, way better than book 1
I enjoy the writing quite a bit and the characters really stand out. It got a bit repetitive towards the end but the banter is just top notch
the way their emotions and feelings are described really hits
don't expect any plot and you'll be good 😁

This is the worst book I have ever read. I hated every second of it
