I was intrigued to start this book after reading the first seven books of the Dark Olympus series and its predecessor in the Wicked Villains series but this book fell a little short. I would definitely describe it as porn with a plot but the plot hardly ever shows up. The main focus of the book is how three people can better manage an unexpected relationship. There was no strong character development or redeeming qualities. It felt like a watered down version of the Patroclus-Achilles-Helen love triangle but less story line. I did enjoy the fact that this book revealed hints of the Dark Olympus series. It’s nice that it was interconnected. I still think that the DO series is the stronger work and maybe this series can be skipped in its entirety. I will still try again with the next installment but I won’t be purchasing either book when it gets released. If you’re looking for tons of spice though you’ll find it here.

(ARC!)
plot ⭐️ 3 stars
in many ways, this felt a little bit like a “porn without plot” book, but it wasn’t a major issue to me because of the character arcs that were established. in many ways, the plot in this book works through the relationship between the characters. I also would say that I haven’t read other books in this series and seeing as they are all interconnected, that probably would have pulled the plot together more from me. but overall, not a lot of “action” happens in the book, but there are many scenes between characters that further their arc and their relationships with each other.
writing style ⭐️4.5 stars
the writing style is simple but well thought out, polished but not overly so. it made the reading experience incredibly enjoyable and definitely heightened the entire experience for me. also, this arc included a copy of the deluxe edition so also included annotations by the author which was so cool! it wasn’t overused but provided a lovely amount of insight into the characters.
character building/development ⭐️ 4.5 stars
this definitely saved the entire book for me. the dynamic between hades, meg and hercules is an interesting one and is deepened by their own flaws and faults. all three were unlikeable at their own points in time, but also incredibly loveable most of the other times!
setting and vibes (visual) ⭐️ 3 stars
I do wish the book had given us a bit more of a setting for carver city and Olympus, but as the writing is mostly focussed on the internal and the relationships, the exterior falls away and that’s okay!
enjoyment ⭐️3,5 stars
overall, this was a very enjoyable read. I wouldn’t say it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read, but that was because of the points where it lacked depth (all except for character, really). I would definitely read more by this author and will also most likely very much enjoy the other books in the series.

Learn My Lesson by Katee Robert is everything I love about the Dark Olympus series—spicy, emotional, and packed with morally gray perfection. This Hades x Meg x Hercules retelling is hot, twisted, and unexpectedly tender. Meg’s fierce, Hades is all broody mastermind, and Hercules? Soft but strong and impossible not to love.
So excited to add this stunning rerelease to my collection next month! 💀💘 If you love morally gray men, kink, and strong heroines—add this to your TBR now. This one hits the shelves on August 5!
Thank you NetGalley & the publisher for the ARC!

Wow, this is so well written - I absolutely loathe Hades (he's giving King Jeoffrey in Game of Thrones) and will positively rage if Hercules doesn't get a happy ending.
He's the himbo of my dreams, what can I say. He's sweet, tender and clueless in the most endearing way. The way he rushes to save Meg melted my heart and I can almost forgive him for not... you know, asking her if that's what she wants.
The world building is great, the characters in the previous novel make appearances and, from what I gather from the author's footnotes, I know to keep my eye on some newly introduced characters as well.
The spice is so good (and quite different) and I'm beginning to think it's kind of a given in Katee's books.
Overall great read, I'm adding the whole series to my TBR and crossing my fingers that Hercules will make more appearances in the future

Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advance reader copy. These opinions are my own.
I enjoy this series so much. This is my read for fun. I love Katee Robert's incredible writing and retellings. And this series of editions is my favorite because I especially enjoy getting annotations in which we learn about the writing process and links to other books.
In this book, we get to learn more about Hades and Meg. In some ways, the dynamic is that of a marriage in trouble because they have drifted apart after years together. So Hades decides that clearly the best fix is to add Hercules into the mix.
The three of them work together incredibly well. While the pacing of the romance was fast, it felt believable. Some of that might be owed to the annotations explaining a bit of what was going on for each character in greater depth.
And of course, this one is incredibly steamy. I also appreciated the excellent assortment of bonus scenes for this and the whole series that were included at the end. This was just fun to read.
