I once ordered a pair of shoes online and received what looked like the right shoes. The general shape and colour were correct, but close inspection revealed a host of differences and imperfections. They were knock-offs. Similar but inferior to the name brand. With a watered down plot and tangential characters, this is the internet knock-off of The Lord of the Rings. It's not horrible, it is just not very good, especially if you are familiar with LOTR. It's too tight in some places and too lose in others to be comfortable. I'm glad I read it if only because there is so much discussion on how it is a LOTR ripoff.

Freedom at last! This took me over a year to read, maybe two? I don’t even remember. It wasn’t bad, just wordy and I had trouble reading it in large chunks, so small ones it was.
