City of Glass has been one of my favorites ever since I first read the graphic novel adaptation years ago. I couldn't even really explain why it stuck with me. I read a lot of mysteries but find that I don't re-read many of them. This one? I've probably read it at least 5 times if not more.

I do wish there was some clue in the end on who it was that shows up, who keeps the red notebook; or that we spent more time with them. It does make mystery, it makes more questions which I love. To me it always felt almost like a loop in a way, that Quinn turns into Stillman (I guess in a sense he turns into both Stillmans. [the shuffling, wandering old man Stillman and the locked in a dark room of the young Stillman's childhood.]) My favorite part is and always will be the maps, I remember I could not stop thinking about it that first read through.

This is postmodern philosophy in a nutshell and I don't mean it as a compliment. Maybe I will learn to appreciate it in the future but right now it has left me cold.

A mind-boggling metanovel which reminded me of Bored to Death sometimes, but which is WAY weirder.
